# Remove/Cancel a 'pending' or 'confirmed' transaction from Spendesk

Spendesk operates similarly to a bank account. It displays the following types of transactions:

* **Pending Transactions**: Transactions that are being processed or declined by the merchant, located in the "Pending Transactions" section of the **Payments** tab.
* **Confirmed Transactions**: Transactions that have been settled by the merchant, found in the "Payments of the month" section of the **Payments** tab.

For more context, you can read [this article](https://helpcenter.spendesk.com/en/articles/4070416-what-s-a-pending-transaction).

# Remove a 'Pending' Transaction from Spendesk

**How long will a failed payment take to disappear?**
A payment that is declined by the merchant may remain as 'pending' for 1 to 32 days. If it persists beyond this period, it is not normal—please contact us.

**Can Spendesk remove it?**
Spendesk cannot delete a payment that has been declined or canceled by a user or merchant but still appears as pending. This process is automatic: after a period of 1 to 32 days, the transaction will disappear by itself, and the funds will be returned to the company's wallet automatically.

**What about pending receipts?**
You can use this feature (until the authorization expires) to prevent being blocked by your Rule on Receipts or receiving missing receipt reminders. Alternatively, you may add a blank page as a receipt.
Please note: Only confirmed payments can be prepared for export by your accounting teams. Pending payments' receipts, even if incorrect or blank pages, cannot be exported in this state.

## Remove a 'Confirmed' Transaction from Spendesk

**How long will a confirmed payment take to disappear?**
The timing depends: have you contacted the merchant for a refund? If they agreed to refund you, they should inform you of the timeline.

There are two possible scenarios:

1. They issue a refund as a new payment line (you'll see both a debit and a credit on your statement).
2. They cancel the authorization (you’ll see no payment at all on Spendesk) if the payment wasn't confirmed.
Delays can range from a few days to several months. Please check with your supplier directly.

**Can Spendesk remove it?** Unfortunately, no. This must be handled between you and the merchant.

However, to address a processed transaction, you can follow these steps:

1. Contact the merchant directly to request a refund or cancellation of the payment on their side.
2. Based on the merchant's handling, you may see either a separate credit line corresponding to the refund or the cancellation of the authorization; if the payment was still pending and unconfirmed.
