# Single-entry purchase journal

If you need a single-entry export format, you can:

1. **Switch Your Accounting Settings**: Update your accounting and purchase journal settings to the single-entry format.
2. **Use the 'All Payables' Page**: Access the 'All Payables' page, where you can export payables in single-entry format.

# Understanding Double-Entry and Single-Entry Purchase Journals

## Double-Entry Purchase Journal

This format is suitable if your accounting requires **both debit and credit columns**.

* Each payable with one expense account and one tax account will be displayed over **three lines**:

* **Line 1**: Net amount in debit against the expense account code.
* **Line 2**: Tax amount in debit against the tax account code.
* **Line 3**: Total amount in credit against the accounts payable code.

## Single-Entry Purchase Journal

Choose this format if your accounting does **not require debit and credit columns**.

* Each payable with one expense account and one tax account will appear on **a single line**, with:

* Net amount, tax amount, total amount, and accounting codes displayed in separate columns.
* If you select multiple expense or VAT accounts in the 'Prepare' tab, the journal will include several lines for the same expense, each corresponding to its specific account.
