Transfer your subscription's ownership

Role needed: only Account Owners or user having the 'Admin' AND 'Controller' roles can transfer a subscription from one member to another. Spendesk teams can't do it on your behalf.


Users transferring the subscription


  • Head over to the "Commitments > Subscriptions" tab.
  • Select the subscription you'd like to edit.
  • Click on the Edit subscription button.
  • Select the new subscription owner from the dropdown menu.
  • Save changes.
  • The subscription is transferred AND the card is cancelled for security reasons.


Users receiving the new subscription


  • Head to Cards -> subscriptions
  • Select the subscription with status Action Required
  • Click on Generate Card, this creates a new card for the subscription.
  • Go to your supplier website and update the payment details. If you don't the next payment will fail.


⚠️ Warning:


  • When you transfer the subscription ownership, the card is cancelled. It's up to the new subscription owner to follow the required steps to generate a new card, and update the details at the supplier.


If you delete a member via Spendesk, you can transfer subscription ownership to a new team member. This will cancel all cards, and transfer the subscriptions. The new subscription owner will need to generate new cards & enter them in the merchant's website.


If you delete a member via HR tool, the subscriptions will be automatically assigned to the account owner, and all cards will be cancelled.
